About Me
Dr Sarah Findlay
My Journey Into Performance Psychology
As a junior national badminton player for Scotland, I experienced first-hand the highs, pressures, and emotional demands of competitive sport. I also know what it feels like when the mental side of performance becomes a struggle - and how deeply that can affect both performance and wellbeing.
That experience shaped the psychologist I am today. I’ve worked in high-performance sport since the age of 18, and I’m driven by a clear purpose: to provide the kind of psychological support I wish I’d had earlier in my own career.
What I Believe About Performance
I believe self-awareness is the foundation of lasting performance.
When you understand your strengths, tendencies, and how you respond under pressure, you gain more control over how you perform in the moments that matter most. High performance isn’t just about pushing harder - it’s about understanding yourself well enough to respond effectively when challenges arise.
My work focuses on developing core psychological skills such as:
Confidence and self-belief
Focus and attention control
Managing pressure and nerves
Resilience after setbacks
Motivation and consistency
At the same time, I place equal importance on the wellbeing that makes high performance sustainable. Because long-term success should never come at the cost of your mental health.
My Professional Experience
I’ve supported individuals and teams across a range of high-performance environments, from elite athletes to professional musicians, and I currently work as the Lead Sport Psychologist for Tottenham Hotspur Women.
Working in environments where expectations are high and margins are small has given me deep insight into the psychological demands of elite performance - from handling pressure and scrutiny to maintaining confidence through setbacks.
Alongside my applied work, I’m an accredited Spotlight Practitioner (Mindflick), a performance personality profiling tool that supports self-development, strengthens communication, and helps individuals perform more effectively under pressure.
How I Work With Clients
Whether we work one-to-one or as part of a team environment, my approach is collaborative, practical, and tailored to you.
Together, we create a space where you can:
Understand how you operate under pressure
Develop practical psychological tools you can use immediately
Build habits and strategies that support consistent performance
Grow in confidence, clarity, and self-awareness
My aim is not just to help you perform better in the short term, but to equip you with skills that stay with you long after our work together ends.
For me, performance psychology is about more than results.
It’s about helping people pursue meaningful goals with a mindset that supports both achievement and wellbeing. When those two things work together, performance becomes more sustainable, more fulfilling, and more consistent.
